On January 23rd, 2024, Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (Public Organization) or TCELS in collaboration with BELCORP, the international corporation with 50 years experiences in beauty industries, and Specialty Natural Products Co., Ltd. (SNPS), the leading manufacturer in standardized Thai botanical herbal extract to the world’s pharmaceutical, dietary supplement, nutraceutical, functional food, and cosmetic industries organized an Online Business Forum on the topic of “Business Opportunities of Thai Cosmetic Technologies in Latin America.” The event aimed to explore business opportunities for Thai cosmetic entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses into the South American markets. The forum was honored by the presence of Dr. Chairat Uthaipibull, Deputy CEO of TCELS, who delivered the opening remarks.

During the forum, Ms. Ana Cecilia Villalobos de Espinosa, Open Innovation Director at Belcorp, Colombia, and Mr. Miguel Tovar Neuz, Open Innovation Manager at Belcorp, provided an overview of Belcorp’s business, shedding light on the cosmetics and beauty markets in Latin America. Following this, Dr. Theeraya Krisdaphong, CEO of SNPS, discussed a case study illustrating how SNPS is driving its business by promoting Thai herbal products globally. The aim was to offer the audience insights into developing and expanding their businesses into the South American and international markets.

ลูกยอ เป็นสมุนไพรไทย ที่คุณประโยชน์และสารสกัดที่สำคัญอีกมาก สารสกัดจากผลลูกยอ เป็นสมุนไพรยอดนิยมของชาวโพลีนีเซีย และฮาวาย มีประวัติการใช้รักษาโรคมานับพันปีแต่โบราณ มีสรรพคุณ ในการช่วยลดน้ำตาลในเลือดมีส่วนช่วยในการลดความดันโลหิตและการกระตุ้นภูมิคุ้มกันช่วยชะลอวัย, ต้านความเสื่อมของเซลล์ มีฤทธิ์ต้านมะเร็ง ลูกยอมีสารโปรซีโรนีน (Proxeronine) เมื่อรวมตัวกับเอนไซม์โปรซีโรเนส (Proxeronase) จะได้สารซีโรนีน (Xeronine) ที่ลำไส้ใหญ่ เมื่อดูดซึมกลับสู่เซลล์ต่าง ๆ ในร่างกาย จะช่วยปรับสภาพเซลล์ให้มีความสมดุลและแข็งแรง และช่วยเสริมสร้างภูมิต้านทานได้เป็นอย่างดี นิยมใช้สารสกัดจากลูกยอ ใช้ในอุตสาหกรรมเวชสำอางและยา จำพวกผลิตภัณฑ์ยาสมุนไพรลูกยอ สบู่ น้ำยาสระผมเป็นต้น

สารพิเพอรีน (piperine) ในพริกไทย ช่วยให้ระบบย่อยอาหารและลำไส้ทำงานดีขึ้น และกระตุ้นให้ระบบทางเดินอาหารหลั่งน้ำย่อย เพื่อย่อยโปรตีน ไขมัน และแป้ง โดยเฉพาะกลุ่มที่ย่อยโปรตีนได้จะมีมากพิเศษ ซึ่งสารพิเพอรีนนี้ ยังเพิ่มการดูดซึมแร่ธาตุที่สำคัญ เช่น ซีลีเนียม วิตามินบี บีตาแคโรทีน เคอร์คูมิน รวมทั้งสารอาหารอื่นๆ และเนื่องจากเป็นสารให้ความร้อน จึงช่วยให้เลือดหมุนเวียนดีขึ้น เพิ่มการเผาผลาญอาหารต่างๆทำให้ร่างกายได้พลังงานมากขึ้น เพิ่มการผลิตสารในสมองที่ทำให้รู้สึกผ่อนคลายและมีความสุข ยังรวมถึงการต้านการอักเสบ ต้านการชัก ต้านมะเร็ง และช่วยป้องกันโรคสมองเสื่อมในผู้สูงอายุ
