Piper betle Linn. is a plant in the Family Piperaceae  with the common names are Betel, Paan, Sirih and Phlu in Thai. The Betel plant originated from South and South East Asia. These plants grow vines or leaning on another tree, and may  reach a height of 15 m. Betel leaf length is about 5-8 cm. wide and 2-5 cm. resembles a heart shape and bright green in color, usually off  smell that odors  if crushed the leave, its stems greenish brown. The leaves have been used in traditional medicine for carminative, antiseptic, antifungal, and antibacterial agent. The main compound are essential oils such as Safrole, Allyl pyrocatechol, Monoacetate, Eugenol, Terpinen-4-ol, Eugenyl acetate, etc.
