Cocklebur is an herbaceous plant, spread throughout tropical and warm areas. In traditional Thai medicine, the leaf and the root are used as an antipyretic and a diuretic. The fruit is used in a treatment of flatulence, arthritis, and muscle spasms. Research reports that the extract from the aerial parts contains Sesquiterpene lactones, such as Xanthanin, etc. that possesses anti-tumor and antimicrobial actions, and is thus used as an antiseptic product.
