                Chaste-tree (Indian privet) is a big-sized shrubby plant originating in tropical areas of Asia. Nowadays, it is spread throughout the world, especially in tropical and warm areas. In Thai traditional medicine, the leaf is used as a carminative, as a galactagogue, and as an emmenagogue. The root is used as an antipyretic, as a lubricant for hemorrhoids, as a relief of amoebic diseases, and as an indigestion reliever. The flower is used as an antipyretic, as an anti-diarrhea, and as a cardiac stimulant. The fruit is used as a headache reliever and as an anthelmintic. Medically, chaste-tree is used to reduce the inflammation and the swelling, caused by rheumatism or injuries. Research reports that the extract from the leaf contains flavonoid compounds, such as isoorientin, luteolin, and chrysoplenol D, which can inhibit histamine release. The extract is, therefore, used as an ingredient for anti-allergy and for anti-irritation products, such as anti-allergy creams, calamine lotions, etc.
