CANDELABRA BUSH

Candelabra bush is a plant native to tropical areas in America. In Thailand, it is typically found in damp areas, and grown as an ornamental plant.  The inflorescence is piled in sets, normally 7 of them. It has yellow in color and is in a candle-like shape. Due to its leprosy curative property, it is, sometimes, called “Ringworm bush”. The leaf contains anthraquinones such as rhein, aloe-emodin, emodin, and chrysophanol. Candelabra bush is commonly used as a laxative in which anthraquinone will produce the constriction of a large intestine. Dermatological uses of candelabra bush are concentrated on skin diseases such as leprosy, ringworm, and scabies. The leaf extracts have antibacterial and antifungal properties.
