Family name: MORACEAE

Thai name: Sa-ke, Khanun-sampalor

Breadfruit is a large, tropical evergreen tree. It is widespread throughout Asia and the South Pacific. In traditional use, the fruit can be made liquor. Latex, a milky juice, is used for boat caulking. Heartwood extracts of breadfruit is used in cosmetics as skin-whitening agents. It contained several flavonoids, stilbenes and related 4-substituented resocinols. It is reported the extract showed the strongest tyrosinase inhibitory activity, which was equivalent to kojic acid.
