                 Borapet is an herbaceous climber with rough and lumpy vines that wind up around a big tree. It is commonly found in untidy and deserted areas. It is believed to originate from Southeast Asia. The vine contains Picroretin and Columbin, which are bitter-tasted glycosides. It is medically used as an appetite stimulant and as an antimalarial drug (antimalarial action). Borapet also contains Feruloyltyramine compounds, such as N-cis-feruloyltyramine, N-trans-feruloyltyramine, and Secoisolariciresinol, which possess more potent antioxidant activity than that of Butylhydroxytoluene (BHT) - a synthetic antioxidant substance. Borapet extract is, therefore, used as an ingredient in skin lightening cream products.
