Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is evergreen tree, originated in Southeast Asia and commonly found in tropical and subtropical regions. Mango is a popular and economically important fruit due to its bright colour,
characteristic taste and nutritional composition such as vitamins, minerals, fiber and phytochemicals. Mango is used to make juice, smoothies, ice cream, snack, etc. The fruit of mango contains carotenoids (eg. beta-carotene and lutein), polyphenols (eg. quercetin, kaempferol and gallic acid) and xanthone (eg. Mangiferin). These bioactive compounds are good antioxidant and have been reported to decrease the risk of some types of cancer, among other health benefits. In cosmetics, the Mango extract is used as a Moisturizer, Emollient, Natural AHA and Free radical scavenger.
